Expand Networks, Inc.

expand.com

Simplifying the IT environment to reduce costs and be more responsive to the business, while providing better services to increasingly decentralized remote branches. Expand Networks is a technology company that helped pioneer the Wide Area Network (WAN) Optimization market. Founded in 1998, Expand Networks has grown to be the leading provider of Application Acceleration solutions over the WAN with 1350 + customers and over 25,000 units installed. From our roots in helping clients optimize the bandwidth used by applications that run over inherently inefficient and expensive communications links, Expand has evolved into a supplier of a multi-service integrated platform known as The Expand Compass. The Expand Compass developed from the recognition that as applications migrated to the web and were joined by a number of other converged IP services such as VOIP, the challenges facing clients grew exponentially and could no longer be addressed by router-based, or single purpose solutions. Exacerbating this challenge is that many of these applications, including those architected for the web, were not designed with the wide area network in mind and in fact add tremendous overhead to the existing network, resulting in poor performance and compromising productivity. Technology has evolved to where companies are moving to recentralize many of their IT operations driven by cost savings, better IT service management and in many cases regulatory compliance. Offsetting this trend is the need to provide improved service to increasingly decentralized global branch operations, many of which rely on inherently weak and expensive communication infrastructures.
