About Flexco In 1906 Olof N. Tevander, a plant superintendent with American National Can, patented a promising fastener design, interlocking steel belt lacing, that caught the attention of George E. Purple and Albert B. Beach, two employees of Addressograph Company. The next year George E. Purple, Albert B. Beach and Phillip S. Rinaldo formed Flexible Steel Lacing Company to buy Tevander's patent and manufacture its design. In April of 1907 they opened a small office and workshop in Chicago, IL.
