Marchex, a Seattle-based SEO/Pay per click firm headed by folks from Go2Net, has filed to go public. It was an obscure Internet start-up founded by several former Go2Net executives, has filed to raise up to $35 million in an initial public offering. It was the first Seattle-area Internet company to conduct an IPO in more than three years after the dot com crash. Marchex is a leader in delivering vertical and local online traffic to merchants, with particular emphasis on search marketing, local search, and direct navigation. Marchex leverages proprietary technology products to connect advertisers with relevant online customers through:(1) a proprietary network of direct navigation Web properties, including vertical and local Web sites; and (2) a partner network that includes search engines, directories, shopping engines, and vertical and branded Web properties. Advertisers Marchex serves Fortune 500 and large national merchants via both direct-to-client and agency relationships, small to medium-sized enterprises primarily via direct self-service, and local merchants via super-aggregators connecting large numbers of local merchants with our services. Distribution Partners Marchex delivers customers to the product and service offerings of its advertisers through two channels:(1) our proprietary network of vertical and local Web sites and (2) our partner network of leading search and shopping engines including Yahoo!, Google and MSN. Marchex's partnerships allow us to offer our advertisers access to the majority of qualified customers on the Web.
