In October of 1928, Curtis Harold Guernsey Sr. founded a consulting engineering firm in a garage office adjacent to his home in Cherokee, Okla. From humble, rural beginnings to a 200-strong employee-owned firm today, a reputation for quality, service, capability and professional integrity continues to be our most valued asset and our foremost ambition. The son of a rancher, who made the run on the Cherokee Strip, C.H. Guernsey was educated initially as a lawyer, but later took correspondence courses in civil and structural engineering. A man of many talents, Mr. Guernsey had worked as a collection agent for International Harvester, a farm agent, and had even owned part of a car dealership before making a career as an engineer in the late 1920s. As the company strives to do today, Mr. Guernsey believed in recruiting and keeping the best people he could find. This philosophy as well as the company's history of treating clients and employees with integrity and honesty is why GUERNSEY realizes continued success.
