The Cartwright School District believes the Arizona Academic Standards must guide teaching and learning with an emphasis on  high expectations for student achievement. Quality instruction, both teacher-directed and student-centered, must be aligned with state standards in order for teachers to accommodate the needs of all students. The delivery of instruction drives academic success when teachers know their learners, know their resources, and know the strategies needed to advance student learning.

Classroom teachers are responsible for providing instruction and instructional activities that allow students the opportunity to meet the Arizona Academic Standards. Delivery of instruction includes determining students’ current skills, matching instructional strategies and assessments to the objectives, and planning instruction at appropriate levels of challenge.

Instruction focuses on teaching that which is assessed and assessing that which is taught. Instructional decisions are based on student achievement data and assessment of the effectiveness of the instructional program shall be determined, in part, by the performance of students on local and state assessments.
