The Timken Company has humble beginnings. Its story is introduced as starting at a point when all other business stories slowly collapse after an extensive and successful career. A nineteenth-century innovator, Henry Timken decided to get a patent for the popular tapered roller bearing. The year was 1898. Immediately the year after that, he put up the company that will mass produce this innovation. Through the years, the same company continued to grow in the production of all types of bearings, steel, and a wide range of other related products. In 2003, the company bought the Torrington Company. Now, the Timken Company remains the universal leader in power transmission and the field of friction management.
