Although founded in 1985, Prestige Care is actually the legacy of a pioneer in Oregon's long-term care industry, Sarah Delamarter. In 1946, she began using her nursing skills to care for seniors in her home as a means to support her family. Her reputation and demand for her service grew quickly and soon she purchased a large house in Wood Village, Oregon, turning it into her first nursing home. Here the second and third generations - including Harold Delamarter, the President of Prestige Care - were introduced to the family business. Two more purchases soon followed and it marked the beginning of what is now one of the largest Northwest based operators of long-term senior care facilities.
