In 1983 an optical revolution began. Although it seems commonplace today, in 1983 there was no one-stop shopping for vision care and eyewearuntil LensCrafters came on the scene. LensCrafters was the first company of its kind to offer the convenience of getting an eye exam and choosing stylish frames fitted with the latest high tech lenses in one location. Whats more, LensCrafters was able to make most glasses at their on-site lab in only about an hour. A concept that revolutionary and forward thinking quite naturally took off. Its success was such that it caught the attention of Italian eyewear giant Luxottica S.p.A which acquired LensCrafters in 1995.
