The HealthSouth Company was founded in Delaware in the year 1984 as by a man named Richard Scrushy and started operating under the name of Amcare Inc. The first company facility was located in Little Rock, Arkansas and later that year a second one in Birmingham. By the year 1985, the company had to change its name again, this time to the HealthSouth
