With sales of €6.4 billion, the USA is by far the largest foreign market for ThyssenKrupp. 19% of all ThyssenKrupp’s sales outside Germany are generated in the USA, which is a share of 12% of our total sales. With almost 24,000 employees, ThyssenKrupp today is one of the largest multinational employers in the United States.

Our segments are in nearly all US Federal States with subsidiaries or branch offices present, in particular the segments Technologies, Elevator and Services.

Our Group now has a presence in virtually all US states. All segments are represented by their own companies. Services, Technologies und Elevator form the focus of business activities.

In Calvert, in the US state of Alabama, our Steel and Stainless segments are building a new joint plant complex. Completion is expected in 2010. Steel intends to supply the markets in the NAFTA region with high-quality flat products from this plant in the future. Stainless is constructing an integrated mill for the manufacture of flat stainless products.
