Synthesis Energy Systems, Inc. builds, owns and operates coal gasification plants that utilize its U-GAS fluidized bed gasification technology to convert low rank coal and coal wastes into higher value energy products, such as transportation fuels and ammonia. The Company’s principal business activities are focused in China and the United States, areas which are estimated by the United States Department of Energy to represent a combined 40% of total global coal reserves. Its first commercial scale coal gasification plant is located in Shandong Province, China, and has been in operation since January 2008. The Company has a second plant under construction in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China and plants under development in Henan Province, China, West Virginia, Mississippi and North Dakota.
