RecycleNet Corporation

recyclenet.com

Prior to the establishment of RecycleNet, Paul Roszel was activly involved in the recycling industry since the mid 1970's. One of the ventures established by Mr. Roszel was The Recycler's Exchange, a monthly Buy/Sell/Trade newsletter with a circulation of more than 3,000 recyclers primarily in Ontario, Canada. Upon being exposed to the technology of the Internet late in 1994, the formulation of a business model began. This would develop into what would become RecycleNet. On May 1, 1995, the Recyclers World web site (www.recycle.net) went online. With just over 1,000 page views in its first month, expectations were that the Recycler's World web site would be one of hundreds or even thousands of recycling-oriented sites on the Internet. The original structure accomodated the Buy/Sell/Trade in 177 categories of goods which covered the spectrum of scrap, waste, by-products, surplus, secondhand goods and used equipment. On December 22 1997, RecycleNet Corporation was incorporated in Ontario Canada. While the rest of the world was getting caught-up in the Internet bubble, RecycleNet was forging its style and method of doing business utilizing the technology of the Internet and trenching in its fundamental business strategy. Traffic and activity on RecycleNet's trading system was increasing at a steady rate and RecycleNet was becoming a predominent influence in the international trade of recyclable materials.
