Jigsaw Fair Information Statement
Introduction
This Fair Information Statement applies to the business information received and collected by Jigsaw about business contacts and companies that is available and traded on Jigsaw. This Fair Information Statement does not apply to data collected about our members or visitors to the Jigsaw.com website. Data collected about our members or visitors to Jigsaw.com is subject to our Privacy Policy.
Statement of Principles
Jigsaw is an online collaborative community and marketplace where business professionals of all kinds buy and trade business contact information. Jigsaw's mission is to map every business organization on the planet, contact by contact, and to keep each contact accurate and up-to-date through the collaborative efforts of our members. The resulting database helps encourage corporate transparency, delivers strategic intelligence, promotes competition and increases efficiency in business.
We resolve to:
Openness and Fairness: Maintain a policy of openness and fairness about developments, practices and policies with respect to our collection and use of business information from readily available sources of information.
Quality and Security: Utilize leading edge software technology and systems to develop and maintain the most complete, accurate and up-to-date business information possible. Apply security measures to safeguard data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Provide information and services to our members that help improve the accuracy of the information and intelligence they maintain about businesses.
Compliance: Comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations and to comply with prevailing industry ethical standards. Monitor privacy and data protection issues on a regular basis to ensure that changes in legislation, regulation, and industry standards are reflected in this statement. Encourage our members to maintain their own compliance programs and suppression lists as appropriate with respect to their advertising, direct marketing and commercial communication programs using information obtained from Jigsaw.
Collection Limitation: Collect and deliver information that is limited, relevant and necessary for the legitimate business purposes of Jigsaw and our members. Limit the collection of data information that is obtained by lawful and fair means. Prohibit the inclusion of non-business related (personal) information without the advanced consent and participation of an individual contact.
Access, Correction and Removal: Ensure that each person whose Business Profile is on Jigsaw has the right to:
- Find out if their current Business Profile is on Jigsaw;
- Access and review their current Business Profile, set their contact preferences and provide instructions to our members;
- Challenge their Business Profile and, if the challenge is successful, to have the data corrected, completed, amended or marked accordingly; and
- Request suppression of their Business Profile, or portions thereof, under certain circumstances and conditions, to be given reasons if a request is denied, and to be able to request reconsideration by Jigsaw based upon the submission of additional information.
Accountability and Responsibility: Be accountable and responsible for providing measures which give effect to the principles stated above.
Sources of Business Information
Jigsaw members may only add and trade business information, including business contact information, that they have legal access to without restriction. Business contact information may be readily available without restriction from any number of different data sources, which may typically include combination of the following types of information:
- Public records: Records created and maintained by government agencies and open for public inspection and use.
- Publicly available information: Information that is available to the general public from non-governmental sources.
- Non-public available information: Information that is privately owned and is not available to the general public or that is generally offered for use and redistribution without restriction for a fee.
- Openly available information: Information that has been made available without restriction by the contacts themselves or the companies for their own convenience, competitive advantage, business benefit or other commercial purposes.
- Freely available information: Information that is accessible or available on the Internet or from other sources without a fee.
- Derived information: Partial information that is assembled, aggregated, appended, or associated together from one or more sources of the above types of information.
Limited Business Information Collected

Contacts can quickly find out if they are on Jigsaw, access their Business Profiles and correct any errors from our homepage or by using this "Are You in Jigsaw" link. For security purposes, contacts will need to have access to their business email mailbox to directly review their Business Profile. Contacts without access to their mailboxes may email preferences@jigsaw.com to find out if they are in Jigsaw or challenge their information.
Set Preferences and Give Instructions.
Contacts are encouraged to enhance their Business Profile by setting their contact preferences and giving instructions to Jigsaw members. For security purposes, contacts wishing to enhance their Business Profile will need to have access to their business email mailbox.
Requesting Removal of Your Business Profile
Suppression Policy Overview
Jigsaw voluntarily offers contacts the opportunity to request that their Business Profile be suppressed from display on areas of the Jigsaw.com website under certain conditions. This removal is not legally mandated.
Suppression means that information may be hidden from display on areas of the website, but will not necessarily result in the removal or deletion of the underlying information from the Jigsaw databases. Suppression may not necessarily prevent reentry, particularly if the same or similar information is freely, openly or publicly available from other sources.
Before requesting removal, we recommend that contacts first check to see just how readily available their information is from this Table of Sources. We also suggest that contacts request removal from any of those sources as needed.
Requests for suppression will be granted or denied based upon the information and supporting documentation provided by each requester. Jigsaw reserves the right, without obligation, to further independently investigate the circumstances and conditions surrounding any request as a basis for its determination. The burden of establishing the required conditions for suppression shall remain on the requester. A request may result in all, some or none of the information being suppressed depending upon the particular circumstances and conditions reported.

FAQ: Fair Information Statement - Frequently Asked Questions
Q:  What information do you
collect about business contacts?
A:   Jigsaw collects (1) Name, (2) Company (3) Title, (4) Address,
(5) Telephone Number, and (6) Email Address into a Business Profile for
every contact on Jigsaw. A single Business Profile may have a number of
different versions within a single company, with each version having a
slightly different combination of Name, Title, Address, Telephone, Number,
or Email address values.
Q:  Do you collect personal information about business contacts?
A:   No. Jigsaw is for business information only, the kind of information you typically find on and in email signatures, business cards, letterhead, websites and public directories everyday.
Q:  Where does Jigsaw get its information?
A:   Jigsaw is a community of business people working together to collect and trade business information. Jigsaw gets its business information directly from the individual members of the community and certain trusted third-parties. Members may only add business information to Jigsaw that they have legal access to without restriction.
Q:  Who can access my information on Jigsaw?
A:   All Jigsaw Members can potentially access your Business Profile information. The Jigsaw community runs on a point system. Jigsaw members and certain trusted third parties trade business information using points that they earn or buy. Jigsaw members earn points by adding and cleaning the data.
Q:  How do members "clean" the data?
A:   Jigsaw is a self-correcting community. Members earn points for challenging information that is wrong and for adding better data. Members loose points when they are wrong or add bad data. The first member to catch an error by another member gets extra points.
Q:  What about mobile telephone numbers?
A:   Mobile telephone numbers are prohibited, even if they are used only for business purposes. If you find a mobile telephone number, please report it to support@jigsaw.com.
Q:  Am I in Jigsaw?
A:   You can immediately search for yourself from our homepage and sign-up for an unrestricted account* account to see your information in Jigsaw. You can also quickly find out if you are in Jigsaw using this "Are You in Jigsaw" link. For security purposes, you will need to have access to your business email mailbox. If you do not have access to your business email mailbox, email us at support@jigsaw.com to find out if you are in Jigsaw.
Q:  Can I be in Jigsaw more than once?
A:   Yes. Every Business Profile on Jigsaw is tied to a single company. Depending on your work history, you may have a separate and distinct Business Profile tied to a number of different companies in Jigsaw.
Q:  How can I access my information?
A:   You can immediately search for yourself from our homepage and sign-up for an unrestricted account* account to see your information on Jigsaw. You can also quickly access your information by using this "Access My Information" link. For security purposes, you will need to have access to your business email mailbox. If you do not have access to your business email mailbox, email us at support@jigsaw.com.
Q:  What information is in my Business Profile?
A:   All business contacts in Jigsaw have a Business Profile that includes their (1) Name, (2) Company (3) Title, (4) Address (5) Telephone Number and (6) Email address. A single Business Profile may have a number of different versions within a single company, with each version having a different combination of contact details. Because Jigsaw's system requires each Business Profile to be tied to a single company, you may also have a number of Business Profiles in Jigsaw depending upon your prior work history.
Q:  How do I set my preferences and give instructions to Jigsaw members?
A:   Contacts found on Jigsaw are encouraged to enhance their own Business Profile by setting their contact preferences and giving instructions to Jigsaw members. You can quickly enhance your Business Profile and change preferences and instructions by using this "Set Your Preferences" link. For security purposes, you will need to have access to your business email mailbox.
Q:  What if I no longer work at the company listed in my Business Profile?
A:   Challenge it! If you no longer work at the company listed in Jigsaw, you may sign-up for an unrestricted account* account and challenge your entire Business Profile. If none of our other members appeals your challenge, your information will eventually be sent to the contact Graveyard. Business Profiles remain accessible in the Graveyard and any member can unchallenge your Business Profile from the Graveyard at any time. You can also email us at support@jigsaw.com if you no longer work at the company listed in Jigsaw.
Q:  What if some of my information is wrong?
A:   Fix it! If some of your information is wrong, you may sign-up for an unrestricted account* account to correct your Business Profile. You can also quickly correct any errors in your information from our home page using this "Are you in Jigsaw" link. For security purposes, you will need to have access to your business email mailbox. Corrected information may appear alongside existing information with an indication that the corrected information came from the contact themselves. If you do not have access to your business email mailbox, email us at support@jigsaw.com to correct your information.
A:   Report it! Anyone can immediately report incorrect or inaccurate information about a company from any Company Information page. Just click on the Challenge Button if you have better data about a Company and follow the instructions to correct the information. You do not need to be a member to correct Company information, but only members can earn points for helping to clean the data. You may sign-up for a free account to begin earning points for reporting incorrect or inaccurate Company Information.
Q:  How can I stay off Jigsaw?
A:   If you are on Jigsaw, your business information most likely readily available from any number of sources. If you hand out your business cards, use emails signatures or list yourself in publicly available business directories, there is a good chance that your information will find its way into Jigsaw. If your company distributes your information on letterhead, websites or for its own business purpose, your information may also be openly available without restriction. As long as your information remains readily available outside Jigsaw, there is a strong chance that you will be added by one of our members. Keeping your business information secret or confidential is the best way to keep your information out of Jigsaw.
Q:  Can I get off Jigsaw?
A:   You may request to have your direct business contact details suppressed (hidden) from display on certain areas of Jigsaw.com. Before requesting removal, we recommend that you first check to see just how available your information is from this Table of Sources. We also suggest that you request removal from any of those sources as needed. Provided that your information is not readily available or you have made reasonable efforts to removal your information from similar sources, Jigsaw will generally suppress your business contact information when:
- Your information was added in violation of non-disclosure restrictions;
- You are at risk of physical harm or a victim of identity theft;
- You actively take measures to keep you information secret or confidential.
Q:  How do I request removal from Jigsaw?
A:   To request removal from Jigsaw you will need to complete and submit our standard Request to Suppress form. Jigsaw will review the circumstances surrounding your specific request and respond accordingly. Any given request may result in the suppression of all, some or none of the information in your Business Profile depending on the circumstances. Suppression may not necessarily prevent reentry if the same or similar information remains readily available from other similar sources. Members having access to your information before your Request to Suppress and members having access to your information outside Jigsaw, may continue to have access to your information on Jigsaw in the event of suppression. For more details about requesting removal, please see our Fair Info Statement.
Q:  What if I do not currently qualify for removal?
A:   If
you do not qualify for removal, you may sign-up
for an unrestricted account* account and challenge your entire Business Profile.
From the Challenge Contact page for your Business Profile, select "None
of the above. I will explain." In the additional comments block, indicate
that you are challenging because you do not qualify for removal or your
Request for Suppression was been denied. Your contact will be challenged
by Jigsaw. If none of our other members appeals your challenge, your information
will eventually be sent to the contact Graveyard. Business Profiles remain
accessible in the Graveyard and any member can Unchallenge your Business
Profile from the Graveyard at any time. You can also email us at support@jigsaw.com
to challenge your Business Profile.
Q:  How do I opt-out of receiving advertising or direct marketing emails sent by Jigsaw?
