Whatever way you look at it, the Speight's Coast to Coast is a pretty special event according to Jan Kees Kirpensteijn - and he should know.
Kirpensteijn first got to grips with the race as a self-employed sports masseur stationed on Klondyke Corner, before having a go himself, and then developing his own kayak in an effort to cut down his time.
This proved to be the springboard for JKK Racing Kayaks, one of the most sought-after kayak brands in New Zealand.
