Beloit College cuts 34 jobs School faces budget shortfalls

Beloit College officials announced 34 staff cuts, including in adjunct faculty, enrollment, business services and every division on campus, spokesman Ron Nief said Friday.

Interim President Dick Niemiec said this month that the small liberal arts college would cut about 40 positions -- nearly 10% of its small staff -- because the school's budget faced a $1 million shortfall this year and another $1 million shortfall next year. The school's projected enrollment is down by 36 students, and fund raising is down $400,000.
