Local authors can find a new outlet through the recently opened Book Shelf, a retail addition to Judy Woodruff's Art Gallery & Photo Studio in Elizabeth.

Woodruff said the new section of her store offers customers a collection of "unique literature" from self-published authors, in addition to displaying artwork and portraits.

"In the unfriendly, unforgiving world of publishing, the traditional publishing routes are not always available," she said. "These are authors who were determined to get their books out, so they found their own venues."
