UNLIKEmost of those who toil to fill these pages, the lady of this house is a freelance. It means that she can write for other publications, and in the case of her bi-weekly column in the Norfolkbased Eastern Daily Press with little chance of theMaster of the House knowing what's being said about him.

The impression, nonetheless, is that things may be shared in East Anglia which would not be closer to home. Sometimes, however - and with thanks to a reader in Newcastle - the chickens wing back north.
