The House of Commons is about to embark on what is probably the longest Parliamentary Christmas break that most people can remember. But before we start to chide MPs on their marvellously long holidays, let us first look on the positive side.
When the House of Commons is in recess, it means that our politicians cannot bombard us with an unending stream of rules and regulations and often ill-thought-out legislation. We should be breathing a sigh of relief, and express the hope that they can enjoy even longer holidays next time.
