Mary Joan Sullivan, a longtime elementary school teacher in the Boston public schools, died April 11 of natural causes at Brigham Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newburyport.

She was 90.

Ms. Sullivan was born in Hull and later lived in West Roxbury and Chestnut Hill. She graduated in 1936 from the former Girls Latin School, now known as Boston Latin Academy.
