New owners plan to revive Carlos Club

SAN CARLOS -- The Carlos Club bar has shut down to undergo a makeover.

New owner Fred Duncan, who also owns Duncan Motors, bought the business at 612 El Camino Real with his brother-in-law about a year ago from Syd Levin, the proprietor since the 1940s.

"We want to clean it up," Duncan said. "It has years of neglect. We are putting in a new bar, a safe and clean bar, versus a bar that has been sitting around for 50 years."

Duncan said he also wants to change how the San Carlos business is perceived.
