District 113 candidates focus on social issues

Three of four candidates for three vacancies on the Township High School District 113 board appeared last week at the Highland Park League of Women Voters forum.

Those three candidates, including incumbents Harvey Cohen and Bonnie Shlensky, and newcomer Annette Lidawer, are all backed by the school caucus, a group of community members who vet potential candidates. Their challenger, Laura Merten, was unable to attend the forum. While the economic situation often reared its head, social issues topped the questions for the candidates.
